Why Do I Want More?
I ask myself every day, why am I working so hard? I have a 40+ hour work week at a 4 star hotel as an Executive Administrative Assistant. We live on a farm and have horses and goats. Animals take a lot of my time in the evening. Then after all of that, I head for the home office and hit the internet in hopes of finding that NICHE that everyone else is looking for. I have a webstore with unique glassware, six "all-about" websites with video, an ebay niche store, some google ad niche stores and then I sell things on ebay...Yea, I stay very busy. Why...I guess we were brought up with the idea that each successive generation must do better than the one before. I am doing well, but I want more. I want to be the best Admin Assistant in the company, I want to be the best horse trainer, I want to be great at making the internet work for me. Out of the three issues listed above, I think the admin thing is doing very well, but the horse training and internet projects are still in work. I have a little sign hanging next to my desk at work. It says "Do or Do Not...There is No Try"-Yoda. So I keep at it. Every day, every evening, every weekend. So again, WHY? I guess it is to reach those goals that we have set for ourselves for our golden years. The taking it easy for all the hard work we did to get there. So, tonight, it will be back to cleaning the stalls and uploading HTML to my websites. Someday, it will come! |
