Setting up my new costume store site

Well, we are now in business! This all started last May when I found a great costume drop shipper that carries thousands of items. I thought "What better thing than to have a great selection of items, have them drop shipped and get it all set up before Halloween". Well, it took me months to find a platform that would accept and work with coding which had to be inserted to allow my site to talk to the supplier site and keep everything updated on quantities and orders. Then I had to find a programmer to write the code and get it all working together. I had just about given up on the whole affair when I found a programmer that had just moved to my area from New York City. He knew ShopSite inside and out and after four months of intensive searching, writing code and building data bases, the site went live on October 4th. A little late for the Halloween crowd, but I got my first order today. YAY! I'm still having some problems with photos tho. The photos that were supplied by the company (over 15,000 of them) all came in different sizes. Trying to get them all to fit nicely is a bit of a chore. It was just a lot of hard work and I hope that it will all be worth it. But you can't harvest if you don't sow first. I have been sowing and plowing for weeks trying to get in on the Halloween business. We also carry party supplies and decorations for just about every type of party or holiday you can come up with. So I guess I will begin to focus on getting the Thanksgiving and Christmas items together and hope that a lot of people want to dress up as turkeys, Santa and the Grinch. This is what the great American dream is all about. I have my business and now I need to see if I can make a go of it. Wish me luck! |
