Are cloth baby diapers better?
Until the early 1960's, everyone used cloth baby diapers. Then the disposable diaper came along. No more washing and folding diapers. No more pins. No more delivery services. Zip Zip and the diapers were all in place. Then you just throw them away. Now that was convinience! I used them on my first child. Now we have all become brainwashed that the disposable diaper is the only way to go. Some parents probably don't even know that cloth diapers still exist. Today, cloth diapers are making a comeback. They are no longer the bulking wads of cloth with dangerous safety pins in the sides. They are now made of the latest in materials that allow the diaper to be laundered and reused again and again. They are even lasting long enough to be used on mulitple siblings. They are colorful and come in a variety of sizes. Here are some facts concerning cloth versus disposable. To use disposables from birth until your child is potty trained, it can cost you up to $2000. To buy the new cloth diapers, a well stocked set for the same time period will cost around $300. A disposable diaper will take up to 250 years to deteriorate in a land fill. Today you shake out the diaper into the toilet, pull out the wet insert and then just wash and dry it all. They have velcro and snaps and special leggings to help prevent leakage. They are easy to maintain and can be used over and over. You are doing a ton of laundry when you have a little one around anyway, so you are just adding one load to your pile. Take a look at today's cloth diapers.
